Disney+ opens, the logo spins… and nothing happens. Or it loads halfway, throws an error code, or plays two seconds of your show and freezes. "Not working" covers a lot of ground on Disney+: login loops, endless loading, playback errors, and crashes all get lumped together — and each one has a slightly different fix.
Before you uninstall anything, run through this ladder in order. Start with the quick checks that solve the most common cases, then move into the deeper resets. Six steps, from least to most disruptive.

Quick Answer
Disney+ not working on Android? First force-stop the app and restart your phone. Then check your connection — switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data to see if one works. If the app still misbehaves, clear its cache (Settings → Apps → Disney+ → Storage & cache → Clear cache), update the app from the Play Store, and sign out and back in. A VPN can also block Disney+ entirely, so turn it off while testing.

Solution 1: Force-Stop Disney+ and Restart the Phone
A frozen or half-loaded Disney+ session often survives a simple app close, because Android keeps the process warm in the background. Kill it properly, then reboot so the network stack and the app both start fresh.
- Open Settings → Apps → Disney+ and tap Force stop.
- Swipe Disney+ away from the Recent apps screen.
- Hold the power button and tap Restart.
- After the reboot, connect to your usual Wi-Fi and open Disney+ before other apps.
This alone clears the stuck-login and frozen-splash-screen cases. If Disney+ opens fine but videos will not play, keep going.
Solution 2: Check the Internet Connection
Disney+ is picky about connection quality. It needs roughly 5 Mbps for HD and 25 Mbps for 4K, and it fails hard on networks with strict firewalls, captive portals (hotel/cafĂ© Wi-Fi), or heavy congestion — often with a vague error instead of telling you the network is the problem.
- Run a speed test in your browser. If you are under 5 Mbps, that is likely the whole story.
- Switch networks: if on Wi-Fi, turn it off and try mobile data; if on mobile data, connect to Wi-Fi. If one works, the other network is the problem.
- Restart your router: unplug it for 30 seconds, plug it back in, wait for the connection to stabilize.
- Move closer to the router, or disconnect other devices hogging bandwidth during the test.
If Disney+ works on mobile data but not your home Wi-Fi, look at the router — restart it, and check whether parental controls, ad-blockers, or DNS filtering are blocking Disney's servers.
Solution 3: Clear Disney+'s Cache and Data
Corrupted local data is behind most "app opens but nothing loads" cases: broken thumbnails, stuck downloads, and login sessions that silently expired. The cache clear is safe; the data clear signs you out, so keep your login details handy.
- Go to Settings → Apps → Disney+.
- Tap Storage & cache (Pixel), Storage (Samsung One UI), or on Xiaomi HyperOS: Apps → Manage apps → Disney+ → Clear data → Clear cache.
- Tap Clear cache first and test the app.
- If it still fails, return to the same screen and tap Clear data (or "Clear storage") — then sign back in.
Note: clearing data deletes downloaded titles from the device. Re-download anything you need for offline viewing after signing back in. If you travel with downloads often, double-check your offline library before tapping "Clear data" so nothing important vanishes mid-trip.

Solution 4: Update Disney+ and Android
Disney+ updates frequently, and older builds lose compatibility with Disney's servers — especially after a major Android update. Running the current app on a current system removes a whole class of playback and login errors.
- Open the Play Store, search Disney+, and tap Update.
- Check Android too: Settings → System → System update (Pixel), Settings → Software update (Samsung), Settings → About phone → System update (Xiaomi).
- Install any pending updates and restart the phone.
- Open Disney+ and test a popular title to confirm playback works.
One more check: make sure your device is still on Disney's supported list. Very old phones and tablets that no longer receive updates can lose Disney+ support quietly — if the app vanished from the Play Store on your device, that is what happened.
Solution 5: Sign Out and Check the Subscription
Sometimes the app is fine and the account is the problem: an expired payment method, a plan change, or too many devices on one account can all make Disney+ refuse to play while looking like a technical failure.
- In the Disney+ app, open your Profile → Account and sign out — or do it from a browser at disneyplus.com.
- In a browser, open Account and choose Log out of all devices, wait a minute, then sign back in on the phone.
- While logged in on the web, verify your subscription is active and the payment method is current.
- Check how many devices are streaming — Disney+ limits simultaneous streams, and hitting the cap produces playback errors.
If someone else shares the account, ask whether they changed the password recently. A stale login token on your phone will loop forever instead of telling you the password changed.

Solution 6: Disable VPN and Reinstall the App
Disney+ aggressively blocks VPNs, proxies, and region-unlocking DNS services. The result is not always a clear "VPN detected" message — sometimes the app just refuses to load or play. And if the installation itself is corrupted, nothing short of a fresh install will fix it.
- Turn off any VPN, proxy, or private DNS (Settings → Network & internet → Private DNS → Off) and test again.
- Uninstall Disney+: long-press the icon → Uninstall, or via Settings → Apps → Disney+ → Uninstall.
- Restart the phone.
- Reinstall Disney+ from the Play Store — not from an APK file — and sign in.
- Test playback on Wi-Fi first, then on mobile data.
A clean reinstall from the Play Store is the definitive test: if Disney+ still fails after this on a current, updated phone with a good connection, the problem is on Disney's side or with the account — check Disney's help center or a service-status page. Covers Android 10 through 14.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is Disney+ not working on mobile data but works on Wi-Fi?
Some carriers route traffic through systems Disney+ does not like, and weak mobile signals drop below the bitrate Disney+ needs. It can also be a carrier-level block or a strict APN setting. If Wi-Fi works fine, the app and account are healthy — focus on the mobile connection.
Does Disney+ work with a VPN?
Generally no. Disney+ detects and blocks most VPNs, proxies, and smart-DNS services, which can cause login failures, error codes, or silent playback failures. Turn the VPN off completely while troubleshooting; only re-enable it afterward if you must, knowing Disney+ may block it.
